Patch notes

A running log of what changes in the open web beta.

Hearthline is in active beta, so it changes often. This page tracks the notable updates — and any save resets — so you always know what is new. Want to play the latest build? Open the web beta.

Beta update July 2026

  • The playable arc now runs Family → Camp → Village — begin at a single hearth and grow it into a settled community.
  • Core loop: send gatherers for wood and forage, light the hearth, and cook meals to hold back warmth and hunger.
  • Camp: knap stone tools, fish the weir, hunt and trap, weave baskets and twist cordage, preserve and smoke food, and raise permanent shelter.
  • Village: organise work crews and train specialists — cook, tanner, artisan, carpenter — craft value-added goods like planks, cloth and pottery, raise the longhouse and granary, and tend a new need: belonging.
  • A living world: four seasons, a day-and-night cycle, and passing weather now gently shift what you gather and how fast needs drain. Winter asks the most — but the world is gentle, never punishing.
  • Your worlds, saved: keep more than one settlement, jump in as a guest, and sign in to save your progress.
  • The Heart Arc: your settlement’s story, narrated by the hearth itself, unfolds as you grow — kept in a re-readable chronicle.
  • Idle that respects you: the settlement keeps working while you are away, with a welcome-back summary of what happened.
  • Still tuning the first hour — onboarding, pacing, and balance. Saves may reset between major beta versions; we will note any resets here.

Web open beta June 2026

  • Hearthline is now playable in your browser — no install required.
  • We are focused on the first thirty minutes: onboarding, tutorial handoff, unlock pacing, and offline progress.
  • Saves may reset between major beta versions while we tune balance and content. We will call out resets here.
